It appears as though Brian Flores' choice to load the Miami Dolphins' practice playlist with Jay-Z songs following Kenny Stills' comments on the rapper wasn't malicious after all, at least according to the head coach himself.

Flores said that he supports Stills' protests and that he chose to play the tracks as a challenge to the 27-year-old wide receiver to step up his play.

"I walked up to Kenny, in front of the entire group, and said, ‘This is a challenge to you. To get open, catch the football, and make plays for this team, regardless of what’s going on outside this building,'" said Flores.

If that's truly what his intention was, then it's Belichickian in nature. It wouldn't be surprising at all if the former New England Patriots defensive coordinator took a page out of Belichick's book in telling his stars to drown out the outside noise.

But of course in challenging Stills with this little stunt, Flores himself has whipped up a firestorm surrounding his relationship with the wide receiver. Regardless of whether or not he supports him, he's literally gone against the lesson he was trying to teach.

This also isn't the first time Stills and Flores have butted heads. The two clashed earlier in the offseason when Stills let loose on Dolphins owner Steve Ross for supporting Donald Trump.

Regardless of the past, though, Stills has Flores' public support for now.
