It's important to note that this injury didn't happen in Braves camp. Rather, it occurred away from the team. Hamels is expected to remain in Dallas before reporting to the team for his medical evaluation.
The Braves, who are looking to make a push for the World Series in 2020, brought in a reliable, veteran presence in Hamels on a one-year, $18 million deal.

Hamels, unfortunately, is no stranger to the injury bug.
He was sidelined with an oblique strain midway through last season as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Prior to his injured list stint, Hamels accumulated a 2.98 ERA. Upon his return, the lefty dealt with the aftermath of said injury, as he posted a 5.79 ERA in his final 10 starts of the campaign.
The Braves will take it easy with Hamels, considering his importance for the upcoming season. For now, they must play the waiting game to see how much time he'll need off before returning to the bump.
