Brad Calipari, the son of the University of Kentucky's head basketball coach John Calipari, will not be a member of the Wildcats next season.

Calipari announced he is leaving the Wildcats to transfer to Detroit-Mercy College next season, in order to continue his collegiate basketball career.

Brad posted a graphic on Twitter to announce his decision, formally leaving the school to presumably finish out his two remaining years of eligibility at Detroit-Mercy. Calipari, who red-shirted last season in his junior year, appeared in 27 games as a freshman and sophomore, scoring 11 total points in his limited playing time.

Calipari thanked Kentucky for being a big part of his life, allowing him to grow up and get the opportunity to play college basketball.

Brad thanked his father for pushing him to be a better basketball player in a video posted to his social media, but stated that his desire to make an impact on the basketball court drove him to leaving Kentucky.

As a competitor, it must have been hard to sit on the sideline and watch others play on a daily basis, and now Calipari will be able to compete and make an impact for Detroit-Mercy's basketball program.
