The second Willie Taggart was fired by Florida State, rumors started spreading everywhere about possible replacements. Bob Stoops, Mike Leach, Elvis, you name it.

Stoops, the former Oklahoma Sooners head coach, has wasted no time, though, and come out and let fans know he's happily retired and won't be returning to the sidelines to coach FSU.

Few people know the college football landscape better than Kirk Herbstreit. If Stoops told him he's not a candidate for the Seminoles' opening, should we go ahead and close this case? Yup.

In his 18 years with Oklahoma, Stoops led the Sooners to brilliance on the gridiron, with 190 wins to only 48 losses. He decided to hang up his headset following the 2016 season. In that final campaign, the Sooners won 11 games, which included a victory in the Sugar Bowl.

Welp, looks like ABC's sources were a bit off here. Sorry, FSU fans, but it doesn't look like Stoops will be heading to Tallahassee.
