For veteran quarterback Cam Newton, his brilliant time with the Carolina Panthers appears to be in its final days. On Tuesday, it was announced Newton has been granted permission to seek a trade, while the QB himself ripped the Panthers for trying to manipulate the narrative.

Regardless, No. 1 is looking for a new home. Per reports, the Chicago Bears are among the teams interested in landing his services, and they don't want to take any chances in bringing him to the Windy City.

Should Carolina not find a trade partner, the expectation is they'll cut Newton and officially move on. However, the Bears are aware of this and don't want any other teams in need of a starting quarterback to potentially outbid them in free agency. Can you say .... DESPERATE?! How many more QB rumors are the Bears going to let leak to further destroy Mitchell Trubisky's confidence? Can they make it any more obvious that they need a new solution under center if they want to succeed?

While Chicago just sold the farm to use a first-round pick on Trubisky in 2017, it's no secret the former North Carolina standout hasn't lived up to the hype. You know things are bad when Chicago wide receivers are taking to social media to try and recruit other quarterbacks to town.

If Chicago is serious about bringing in Newton to replace Trubisky, they better get on the horn quickly and make a tempting offer to the Carolina front office. Otherwise, you better believe multiple teams will be lining up to try and sign him once he's a free agent.
