Auburn QB Joey Gatewood Reportedly Leaves Program After Emergence of Bo Nix
By Michael Luciano

Auburn quarterback Joey Gatewood isn't going to have his Jalen Hurts moment in a bowl game this year, after all.
After true freshman Bo Nix was named the starter and has guided Auburn to a Top 20 ranking all season long, Gatewood, the 6-5, 233 pound freshman, has reportedly left Gus Malzahn's Tigers, likely in search of more playing time.

Gatewood saw limited playing time this year, mostly in either Wildcat formations or backup duty. He is 5-for-7 for 52 yards and a touchdown as a passer, while adding 29 carries for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Against Kent State, Gatewood ran for 102 yards on 12 carries.
Gatewood committed to Auburn very early in his recruiting process, but schools like Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, and Florida State were also hot after him out of high school. With a howitzer for a right arm and tremendous running ability, whomever snatches him up will get a gem of a player.
I think this was the final straw for Joey gatewood tbh. Smh..

The emergence of Nix made it clear that if Gatewood wants to start, Auburn is not the place for him. If anyone wants a 6-5, 233 pound underclassman with a rocket arm and plus mobility, he's here for the taking.
