The Astros could have a big boost to their lineup as early as next Tuesday if everything goes according to plan.

George Springer, the Astros two time All-Star outfielder, is set to return from a hamstring injury barring any setbacks this weekend during his rehab assignment.

Springer recently began a rehab stint with the Astros' Double-A affiliate, promptly hitting two home runs in the first game of his assignment. The plan is for Springer to play two more games with the Double-A team Saturday and Sunday. He'll get an off day on Monday, leading to a Tuesday return to the lineup when the Astros host the Pirates in the first of a three-game series.

The former World Series MVP was hitting .308 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI before a hamstring injury suffered on May 24 sent him to the IL. Springer's return could jump start an Astros team that just saw former MVP Jose Altuve return from the IL, giving them back one half of their dynamic middle infield.

The power bat of Springer, coupled with the superstar production of Altuve has the Astros trending in the right direction heading towards the All-Star Break.
