The Kentucky Wildcats were preparing for their debut in the SEC Tournament when the coronavirus halted the sports world and March Madness was cancelled.

That news was undoubtedly a bitter pill to swallow for Wildcats Nation, but they may finally have a reason to smile while social distancing with no basketball to pass the time.

During an Instagram Live on Tuesday night, a few fans may have caught star point guard Ashton Hagans reveal that he intends on returning to Kentucky for his junior season.

That alleged quote carries a lot of weight so we really hope that Hagans wasn't spewing nonsense just to appease some fans on social media begging him to run it back in Lexington.

However, the 20-year-old may just be motivated to finish his college career on a high note. Kentucky fans will be quick to remember that, after a heated confrontation with freshman Nick Richards in the Wildcats' previous tilt, Hagans missed what turned out to be the team's final game of the year on the road against Florida.

The Georgia native didn't make the trip to Gainesville for what head coach John Calipari described as personal reasons.

Hagans was likely planning to test the waters of the NBA Draft, but the COVID-19 outbreak complicates everything. Don't be surprised to see No. 0 back in Calipari's starting lineup next season.

In 2019, Hagans averaged 11.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game on 40.4% shooting for the Wildcats. Those are figures fans in Kentucky will be eager to see return in 2020-21, and Hagans will be hoping to make further strides in his junior season.
