We are a few days removed from The Athletic's bombshell report, which revealed resounding evidence the Houston Astros were electronically stealing signs during their 2017 World Series-winning campaign.

The fallout has forced pundits within the MLB industry to question the legitimacy of individuals involved with that team who have since moved on.

Well, The Athletic followed up to report that Alex Cora (among others) is connected to the cheating scandal, and that fact should seriously put into question the overall innocence of the Boston Red Sox.

Let's take it back to that same 2017 season when the Red Sox were fined for using apple watches to steal signs from the New York Yankees. A team trainer was allegedly caught gazing at the watch and then subsequently relaying messages to Boston players.

Given Cora's connection to the Astros' success in 2017 -- he was a bench coach that season and was hired by the Red Sox as their skipper that offseason -- it's almost impossible to not ponder the possibility of him passing on similar antics from Houston to Beantown.

Again, we are not accusing Cora or the Red Sox of any wrongdoings, but if MLB wants to seriously crack down on sign-stealing -- the Astros won a freaking World Series thanks to it -- they must ask the necessary questions and Boston's shady past absolutely qualifies them to be examined.
