Alex Cora is Lying to Red Sox Nation by Saying Deadline Inaction Didn't Affect Team

The Boston Red Sox are drowning. Could it be because the team failed to make a meaningful acquisition at the MLB Trade Deadline and show any faith in the guys battling in the locker room whatsoever?
After all, this isn't a non-contender. It's a beastly offense without a competent pitching staff or bullpen. That could've at least been patched over...right?
Alex Cora says none of this matters, but can we really trust what he says?

Reiterates that he doesn’t think the club standing pat at the deadline didn’t had any impact on the team’s play.
The Red Sox were 8-5 in the two weeks prior to the deadline. The organization appeared to be making moves, trading for Andrew Cashner in mid-July. However, once it became clear that no more deals would be negotiated, the losses just started to pile up.
Since the July 31 deadline at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Boston Red Sox have failed to win a game, dropping their last six contests, featuring sweeps by the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees.

The team was hoping for a player that would ignite the fire and motivate the roster to come together and push for a playoff spot, but their savior never came. Now entering the dog days of August, time could to be running out for Boston if they don't play their cards right.
And we don't buy the excuse that a move wouldn't have bumped the needle at least a little bit closer toward contention.
