Alex Cora Likely to Drop Protest of Rays Game After Gaining Very Little Traction

Best to explore all options, of course, but it seems like Alex Cora's fervent protest (following a 20-minute delay) of Wednesday's loss to the Rays is more than likely going to be dropped after going nowhere.

The day after the initial bungling, Cora seemed less than enthusiastic about his chances of earning a replay.

Of course, the protest was borne out of Kevin Cash's attempt to keep Adam Kolarek in the game and eligible to pitch to two separate batters, both sandwiched around Mookie Betts. Cash moved Kolarek to first and lost the DH, but umpire Angel Hernandez was too goofy to realize he needed to write him into the lineup in the proper spot, bungling the card.

It wasn't Cash's burden to bear; Hernandez just blew it, and ultimately everyone ended up batting correctly. No harm, no foul, unless you're Alex Cora trying to pull off a Hail Mary.

Basically, Cora and the Red Sox were Jim Harbaugh railing against Bill Belichick here: sure, what was done was legal, but it felt weird and they weren't properly warned!

But ask yourself, Boston: Do you really want to be a Harbaugh? Just drop this one.
