The Alabama Crimson Tide did not make the College Football Playoff this season, and that means that their top NFL prospects were faced with a tough decision -- to play in the Citrus Bowl or sit out and prepare for the draft.

Linebacker Terrell Lewis opted for the latter, and has decided to rest and get back to full strength in advance of the Combine and beyond. That led to some inevitable criticism from those who'd rather see him play on New Year's Day against Michigan, but he was more than ready to fire back on Instagram.

Lewis is a 21-year-old kid making an informed decision about his future. Clearly, he has received plenty of messages from trolls and Alabama fans who are mad at him for skipping the Citrus Bowl, but he's not hearing it from those who "have no knowledge" of his thought process or best-laid plans.

The Alabama defender has dealt with injuries throughout his college career, and once his team failed to qualify for the Playoff, there was not much else to play for other than school pride.

Lewis knows another injury could cost him millions, so it's easy to see why he is skipping the game. Time to respect his decision and move on.
