3 Tough Decisions Jerry Jones Will Be Faced With if Cowboys Miss the Playoffs
By Brendan Azoff
The Dallas Cowboys are young and talented with a roster that Jason Witten calls the best he has ever been a part of. However, if they fail to make the playoffs, Jerry Jones will be faced with many difficult decisions next offseason in order to prevent further disappointment in Big D.
3. Possibly Letting Ezekiel Elliott Go
We're under the assumption the front office is still working on a mammoth contract extension for Dak Prescott, which has been a huge talking point this offseason. But what about Ezekiel Elliott? There hasn't been much on that front, and if the Cowboys pay Dak and wideout Amari Cooper while the younger RBs show promise running behind the stacked offensive line, perhaps the front office decides to spend that big money elsewhere.
2. Giving Dak More Weapons Through the Air
After this season, Amari Cooper, Randall Cobb, Tavon Austin, and Allen Hurns will all be unrestricted free agents, providing the Cowboys with a pretty significant a dilemma. Re-signing Cooper seems obvious, but his cost could be prohibitive, though we think Dallas will eventually bite the bullet and pay him. But what about the rest of the corps? Do they build through the draft or look toward free agency.
1. Firing Jason Garrett
Garrett has been on the hot seat for virtually the majority of his Cowboys coaching career, and despite his 77-59 record, he only has three playoff appearances in nine years. If the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs yet again under Garrett, the head coach should be the first person to go. After all, the Cowboys have been quiet regarding an extension for Garrett as he heads into his contract year. Coincidence? We think not.
