3 Players the Cowboys Will Cut This Preseason Due to Surplus of Depth
By Sean Facey

NFL opening kickoff is less than three weeks away, and that means some players vying for roster spots here in the preseason will unfortunately have to be sent home or find a new team. The Dallas Cowboys have some thinning to do of their own, and with depth at plenty of positions, it seems like a no-brainer that these three players are the ones destined to be cut by the end of the preseason.
3. Jameill Showers, DB
If there's one thing the Cowboys have at safety, it's familiarity. Veteran guys like Jeff Heath, George Iloka and Xavier Woods are destined to find key roles with the likes of Kavon Frazier and Darian Thompson also filling in. There's simply too many strong players ahead of Showers for him to make the roster. The quarterback-turned-defensive back will just have to find work elsewhere.
2. Darius Jackson, RB
The only thing keeping Darius Jackson on the roster is Ezekiel Elliott's contract dispute, and even with that, he seems to be hanging on by a thread. Tony Pollard has done nothing but impress in camp, and with an established veteran like Alfred Morris also on the depth chart, there's really no place for him on the Cowboys in the 2019 season.
1. Mike White, QB
Even with Dak Prescott demanding a ridiculously large contract, the Cowboys have their quarterback situation pretty much squared away for this year. Backup Cooper Rush has flashed his potential in training camp yet again, and that leaves White on the outside looking in. He simply hasn't shown the upside Rush has, making it a pretty easy decision for the Cowboys to cut him.
