3 Players the Chiefs Will Cut This Preseason Due to Surplus of Depth

After falling just short in the AFC Championship Game last year, the Kansas City Chiefs have high hopes for their 2019 campaign. They've got plenty of talent, though, and that means some players are going to have to be sent home by the end of the preseason. These three players will fall victim to the surplus of depth at their positions.

Williams was less than impressive in his time on the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the preseason. He managed a modest 25 yards on six carries. It was by no means a bad performance, but it'll take a lot more than that to squeeze out one of the three running backs ahead of him on the depth chart. He seems destined to be cut before the start of the season.

Pringle has been targeted seven times in two preseason games but has managed to catch just two of those passes for a grand total of 21 yards. That's not a good way to make a case for yourself, especially when guys like Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill already occupy the top two spots at wide receiver. Pringle hasn't shaped up, and it seems like he's doomed to get the pink slip.

The Chiefs have some considerable depth along the defensive line and unfortunately for Xavier Williams, he's been dealing with back issues for much of the preseason, which is not a good sign heading into the year. He's missed time as a result and that's certainly going to affect his standing with the team given other players ahead of him are getting ample reps.
