3 Free Agents the Cowboys Should Still Pursue

Jerry Jones and his Dallas Cowboys will be looking to defend their NFC East crown in the upcoming 2019 campaign. They've been busy this offseason trying to shore up their weaknesses through both free agency and the draft. They've brought in Randall Cobb and coaxed Jason Witten out of retirement to give Dak Prescott a couple more options. They were also able to bring in Christian Covington to add to their already ferocious defensive line. But if they want to ensure they have the best shot of any team to win the division, they may need to explore these guys in free agency.

3. RB Jacquizz Rodgers

We all know how great Ezekiel Elliott is. He's one of the best backs in the league and there's really no denying that. But we've also seen how anemic the Cowboys' offense becomes once Elliott is off the field. Prescott has struggled to carry the load without Elliott in the lineup, so bringing in an adequate backup for him would be wise of the Cowboys' front office. Rodgers is an established veteran and could even help out the number of young guys Dallas has in the backfield.

2. QB Matt Cassel

This is probably an unpopular opinion among Cowboys' fans, but they need a backup QB with some experience behind Dak, and Cassel certainly fits the bill. He spent some time in Big D backing up Tony Romo, so he's already familiar with the offense. The QB market isn't very deep at this stage of the offseason and Cassel is the only one that would make sense for Dallas.

1. TE Jermaine Gresham

Just because Cowboys great Jason Witten came out of retirement to rejoin the team doesn't mean they still don't need help at the position. In his last season in Dallas, Witten caught 63 balls for 560 yards and 5 touchdowns. Solid numbers for sure, but after taking a year off it's impossible to project what kind of output we'll see from him this season. Behind Witten they have Blake Jarwin and Rico Gathers, both of whom combined for 30 catches, 352 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. Inserting someone like Jermaine Gresham to the mix would ensure that the Cowboys don't have a letdown again this year at the tight end position.
