3 Bold Predictions for Oklahoma vs Texas

The Red River Rivalry, never short on points, chaos, or pulse-pounding thrills, is set to be renewed this Saturday afternoon, as Tom Herman and Texas look to put a stop to Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma's dominance in the Big 12. Considering Texas pulled off the upset last year before Kyler Murray sliced them up in the Big 12 championship, anything and everything is on the table.

3. Oklahoma Runs for 250+ Yards

While all the razzle dazzle around Oklahoma gives off the impression that Riley is the ringmaster of an aerial circus, the Sooners always want to establish the run between the tackles with Jalen Hurts, Trey Sermon, and Kennedy Brooks. As evidenced in the LSU game, the Longhorns still have to figure some stuff out as it pertains to stopping the running game against teams with a good enough offensive line. If Texas plays Cover 4 all day to prevent the big pass, Riley will be more than happy to plow it up the middle.

2. Over 100 Points Are Scored

The Big 12 went from the college of triple-option running game and stifling defense to the Air Raid, defense optional league, and no one exemplifies that better than Oklahoma and Texas. Whatever Ruffin McNeill and Todd Orlando's skills as coordinators and designers of defense, neither of them are going to inhibit Hurts or Sam Ehlinger in any meaningful way. It will be a disappointment for either side if they don't break the 40-point threshold.

1. Oklahoma Wins on a Last-Second Field Goal

Even when one of these two programs wasn't at its best, you could always throw out all the records when this game went down, as both teams always seem to play each other close. Ehlinger and Collin Johnson lead an offense nearly as explosive as the Sooners', and should be able to find the end zone frequently against Kenneth Murray and the Oklahoma defense. Having said that, Oklahoma's offense could be too powerful for the Longhorns, or anyone else in the Big 12 to stop at this point, which should give them the win.
