3 Best Left-Handed Starting Pitchers Remaining in Free Agency Not Named Madison Bumgarner

Even with Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg recently signing major deals, there are still some solid free agent pitchers available on the open market. The first name that comes to mind is Madison Bumgarner, but here are three other hurlers that could be valuable additions.

3. Hyun-Jin Ryu

Ryu was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball last season, and arguably got robbed of the NL Cy Young. Ryu sported a league-best 2.32 ERA while only giving up 47 earned runs for the Dodgers across 182.2 innings. He's never recorded an ERA above 3.77 and is extremely effective at limiting walks. Outside of Bumgarner, he's the best starter left in free agency.

2. Dallas Keuchel

Keuchel struggled to find an MLB home in free agency last year, so he's hoping for a better go of things this time around. He latched on with Atlanta in late June, and made 19 starts for the Braves. He pitched to the tune of a 3.75 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 112.2 innings, proving he's still worthy of a rotation spot on virtually any roster.

1. Alex Wood

Alex Wood's 2019 season was marred by injury, but the left-hander can hopefully bounce back in 2020. Managing just seven starts last year, Wood recorded a 5.80 ERA. Still, just a few years ago Wood made the All-Star team with a stellar 2.72 ERA in Los Angeles. He could be worth a gamble on a one-year deal if he shows signs that he can stay healthy.
