The Rays currently possess the first wild card in the American League and sit two games back in the loss column behind the Yankees. Tampa Bay's success can largely be attributed to their dominant pitching staff, which leads all of baseball with a 3.02 ERA.
Though the offense has not been nearly as spectacular -- ranking 18th in the MLB in runs scored -- the Rays still have the fourth-best run differential in the majors at +94. Austin Meadows has been leading the charge for Tampa Bay offensively with a .314 average, 12 homers, and a .961 OPS.
Ryne Stanek will be on the mound to start the game for Tampa Bay, serving as the team's opener.

Giancarlo Stanton will make his return to the Bombers lineup on Tuesday after being out for two months, joining newcomer Edwin Encarnacion who made his Yankees debut on Monday.
The Yankees are looking to expand their lead in the AL East after a huge win on Monday night. LeMahieu continued his incredible season for the Yankees, notching his eighth home run of the year and raising his average to .311 while playing stout defense. Maybin continues to make a case for the Yankees to keep him as he's tallied home runs in three straight games coming into Tuesday night.
JA Happ will toe the rubber for the Bombers, looking for his seventh win.
