BREAKING: Yankees Star Miguel Andujar Elects for Season-Ending Labrum Surgery

The inevitable has become a reality for the New York Yankees.

According to the team, third baseman Miguel Andujar has elected to have surgery on his torn right labrum this upcoming Monday, which will effectively end his season.

Even when Andujar returned from the labrum injury, there was always that thought in the back of the team's head that surgery was absolutely on the table down the road. However, it came earlier than they expected, after nine rough days back in the bigs, and Andujar will be out for the next 6-to-12 months.

Once Andujar initially returned, he struggled mightily at the plate. Through 47 at bats this season, Andujar only recorded six hits while accumulating a .187 batting average.

While the Andujar injury only adds to the bug that has claimed victim of the entire starting roster, the Yankees have reinforcements this time. Gio Urshela has become a lightning rod for the team's offense, considering he has a .341 batting average. Not to mention, the team acquired slugger Kendrys Morales to become the team's designated hitter.

When Didi Gregorius ultimately returns, with Troy Tulowitzki supposedly en route as well, that's enough healthy bodies to cushion the team against the inevitability of losing Andujar for the entire campaign.

It's now the next man up for the Yankees, as has been the theme early on this season.
