Yankees' Ridiculous 220-Game Scoring Streak Finally Ends After Shutout Loss to Rangers

All good things must come to an end. Unfortunately for the New York Yankees, they picked a really inopportune time to see their streak of consecutive games with a run come to an end.

In a span of 220 games that dated back to last year, the Yankees plated at least one run. Following a dominant performance by Texas Rangers starter Mike Minor, the streak was finally snapped. It was the second longest streak of its kind in baseball history, trailing only a Yankees team in the early 1930s led by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

You knew that this had to end at some point, but losing to a team with a sub-.500 record while the Yankees themselves are trying to unseat the Houston Astros atop the AL standings was some pretty rough timing.

While most teams were no stranger to being shut out, the Yankees hadn't experienced this embarrassing feeling in a year and a half, last being shut out back in July of 2018. Not too shabby from Aaron Boone and hitting coach Marcus Thames.

We look forward to June of 2021 when the Yankees inevitably pass their previous mark and set their sights on the record.
