Yankees Reportedly Will Only Deal Clint Frazier for Pitchers Under Contract Past 2020 Season

The parameters for dealing Clint Frazier continue to reportedly shift, and it seems many may have made incorrect assumptions about the young outfielder's status when he was demoted to Triple-A by the Yankees last week.

The immediate assumption when Frazier headed back to Scranton was that he was intensely on notice. Then, earlier this week, it leaked that the Yanks likely wouldn't jettison Frazier for Madison Bumgarner, Zack Wheeler, or any other rental pitcher.

Now, if the latest reports are accurate, Frazier won't be on the table for Marcus Stroman or Trevor Bauer, either; the Yankees apparently aren't looking to ditch one of their hottest commodities for anyone who isn't tied down.

So that includes...Matthew Boyd and Max Scherzer? A few targets we haven't locked onto yet? This significantly limits the likelihood the Yanks will cut bait with one of their strongest contributors; someone who's controllable through 2024, by the way, and just became more immediately important following Cameron Maybin's injury.

Perhaps Estevan Florial's cheeks are flushing a bit with each subsequent report about Frazier's standing within the organization. He may be the guaranteed headliner now.
