Yankees Broadcaster Michael Kay Will Miss 1 Month to Undergo Vocal Cord Surgery
By Jared Kish

The New York Yankees have dealt with their fair share of ailments this season and now the injury bug has made it up to their broadcast booth.
Yankees broadcaster and host of The Michael Kay Show on 98.7 ESPN, Michael Kay, will be out of action for the next month due to vocal chord surgery.
Just wanted to tell everyone what is going on. I went to see a specialist in Boston today and he recommended I have surgery to correct an issue with my vocal cord. I will have the surgery next week and will be out for about a month, starting with today’s game and radio show.

Kay visited a specialist up in Boston who recommended he get surgery, which will take place next week.
The broadcaster missed Yankee games and his radio show before the team went to London due to laryngitis. Though he was not on the London trip, it was the perfect time for Kay to rest up, but now it's obvious this was a deeper rooted issue.
So, please be patient and know that I am going to get back as soon as I possibly can. @DonLagreca and @Rosenbergradio will hold it down on @TMKSESPN and all my colleagues at @YESNetwork will get the job done expertly.

Kay is rather optimistic as he knows his coworkers Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg will get the job done effectively on radio. The YES Network will be held down by Kay's broadcast partners in Paul O'Neill, David Cone and others.
With John Sterling expected to take some time off after the Mets series, Thursday's broadcast against the Rays is going to sound much different for Yankee fans.
We wish the best for Kay and a speedy recovery.
