Yankees Being Projected as Best Rotation in AL is Insane Uncharted Territory

It's the dawn of a new era in the Bronx -- one dominated by starting pitching, presumably.

The floor and ceiling of the New York Yankees' rotation are both now staggeringly improved following the signing of Gerrit Cole. Even the Bombers' most committed cynics can admit that they now flaunt -- top to bottom -- one of, if not the best, rotations in the MLB.

Well, it would appear that FanGraphs agrees with that sentiment. They have the Pinstripes penciled in as the second-best bunch in baseball with a 19.1 projected WAR, trailing only the Nationals by the slimmest of margins.

That's right, folks, and the good news for Yankees fans is that they have plenty of time to let that assessment breathe because there are still some three months before the start of the 2020 season.

They'll undoubtedly need it because flaunting the American League's best rotation is simply uncharted territory for their beloved Yanks. The fact that their 19.1 mark is 2.9 figures higher than the next best AL squad (the Rays), tells you all you need to know about their lofty expectations.

And rightfully so. A rotation of Cole, Luis Severino, James Paxton, Masahiro Tanaka, and Jordan Montgomery is genuinely daunting. That's to say nothing of Domingo German, an 18-game winner in 2019, potentially joining them down the road.

After failing to acquire a marquee pitcher at the trade deadline last season, the Yankees knocked it out of the park with their big-money signing in the offseason. They've addressed their biggest need and now they look set to deploy the most dominant rotation in the American League.
