It's become all the more clear of late just how badly Americans need a distraction. With sports like the MLB done until at least the middle of May (at best), all of us are lacking an outlet.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is right there with us. Boone wants nothing more than for baseball to return, but says the sport can be used as a form of healing, rather than a competitive outlet in an inspirational message to fans.

Through the disappointment of having a possible championship season severely disrupted, Boone is still able to articulate a truly insightful message to fans that will hopefully help calm the nerves of not just baseball fans, but everyone affected by this virus.

That is the true mark of not only a good manager, but an even better person. Boone doesn't let his competitive spirit cloud his ability to see the bigger picture. When sports return, it won't just be to see who wins and who loses. It will also be used as a tool to bring the country together once again, and begin a process of healing and recovery.
