Another day gone, another sports league suspended to prevent the spread of COVID-19. On the same day that the NCAA, MLB, MLS and the NHL announced their seasons were to be suspended, the XFL is following closely behind.

Commissioner Oliver Luck announced Thursday evening that the league would be suspending play, a decision which doesn't come as a big surprise.

Players were informed hours before Luck's decision that suspension was the likely course of action. Luck did, however, reveal that players would be rewarded with their base pay, while season ticket holders are expected to be refunded.

The eight-league team only resumed action this year after it was rebooted by owner Vince McMahon. Unfortunately its debut season was derailed due to the outbreak of the virus.

The sports world has completely stopped revolving at this point, and it's impossible to know when everything will return to normal. The Chinese Basketball Association is only preparing to return in April, after being suspended since early January.
