Worst Fans in the NFL

Some NFL fan bases are shining examples of how to support a particular team. Through thick and thin, these fans pack the stadium, get rowdy as they cheer their players on, and are insatiable in professing their love for their team.

And then there are these six fanbases, who are either too obnoxious for their own good or aren't coming out on Sunday to fill up the stadium.

6. New Orleans Saints

After years of horrid football--they were called the Aint's and invented wearing paper bags on their head--Saints fans have been a noisy, devoted bunch ever since Drew Brees brought them a championship. They are on this list because they STILL won't shut up about last season's NFC championship game. Was the call horrible and gutting? Without question. Having said that, the new season is about to start, so stop dwelling on the past.

5. Los Angeles Rams

While the lackluster attendance can be blamed on the transition moving back to LA after two decades in St. Louis, Rams games aren't exactly the place for diehard fans. Given the transient nature of LA and the strong territorial presence of teams like the Cowboys and Raiders, the Coliseum can look like a road or neutral site game at times despite Sean McVay and Jared Goff building a Super Bowl caliber team from the ground up in Los Angeles.

4. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys dwarf everyone else in attendance, travel very well, and are far and away the largest fan base in the country. However, we all know that one Cowboys fan who thinks Dak Prescott is worth the $40 million he's asking for and this is the year they win another Super Bowl. They are devoted to a fault, and the confidence can quickly turn into arrogance when you bring up the lack of success post-Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles fans are in it to the bitter end, literally. Their passion is so legendary that fights with opposing fans and hellacious verbal abuse towards players are par for the course at Lincoln Financial. From cheering Michael Irvin's career-ending injury to turning on their own at the first sign of trouble, Eagles fans are a special breed. When they're good, there's few better in the league. When stuff goes wrong, all hell breaks loose in the tri-state area.

2. Los Angeles Chargers

Do you know a Los Angeles Chargers fan? Do they exist or are they all hypothetical constructs? After ditching the city and fanbase that loved them to death in San Diego, the Chargers have moved into a soccer stadium three hours away from anyone who gave a damn about them. The result is barely selling out a stadium that doesn't even meet league requirements for seating capacity and having most of their divisional matchups feel like road games as the stands are covered in Chiefs red, Raiders black, or Broncos orange.

1. New England Patriots

There are two parts to this. First, Patriots fans were so indifferent to the franchise and the team itself was so bad during their first 30-ish years of football that they was in dire straits financially. It was bought by James Orthwein and almost moved to St. Louis to become the Stallions, so they weren't exactly supporting them through tough times. Second, they have earned the right to gloat about their success, but it's gotten to the point where it's almost unbearable. Patriots fans have drank way too much of the Tom Brady Kool-Aid, and have become arguably the most irritating group of fans in all of sports.
