The Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox came together three years ago and made one of the biggest blockbuster deals in recent memory when Chris Sale headed to Beantown. And the headline-grabbing relationship between the two clubs doesn't have to end there.

If you're the Red Sox and you want to trade Mookie Betts and get some young talent in return rather than watching him walk in eventual free agency, the boys from the South Side could make for intriguing partners. It's well known that Chicago has some highly-touted prospects, so a combo of Michael Kopech and Nick Madrigal could very well get a deal done.

It's worth noting that the idea isn't crazy to the MLB Network.

The Red Sox would fall over themselves to make that happen. There's far from any guarantee that Betts would re-sign with any team that grabs him with one year left on his current deal. But if the alternative is competing with clubs willing to fork over upwards of $300 million for him on the open market, it's hard to rule this option out quite yet.

If you're dead set on landing Betts but can't afford to sacrifice your whole future, however, a separate package of high-upside players could entice Boston. Outfield prospects Luis Alexander Basabe and Blake Rutherford, as well as right-hander Dane Dunning, could get the conversation going.

None of these players are in the top five on Chicago's prospect list according to MLB.com, but each is in the top 10.

Chicago's executive VP Kenny Williams has made it known that the White Sox are going to be more active this offseason than they have in recent years. Acquiring Betts would certainly go a long way in realizing this, and even though one player doesn't make the White Sox an instant World Series contender, they would be a lot more competitive in the AL Central overnight if they can infuse their roster with a former MVP and World Series champ.
