NFL Predictions For Week 6

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots got Week 6 of the 2019 NFL season rolling with a dominant win over Daniel Jones and an overmatched New York Giants team. With division leads up for grabs, the fireworks are sure to continue on Sunday and Monday.

Panthers at Buccaneers

The blokes across the pond will get to see one of the most interesting games of the week, as the Panthers look to win their fourth straight game with Kyle Allen under center while also avenging a previous loss against Tampa Bay. The Bucs have no momentum, as their win over the Rams was instantly followed by a painful defeat to the Saints in which Teddy Bridgewater carved up Todd Bowles' once fearsome defense, and aren't looking forward to trying to stop the most productive player in the NFL this year in Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey.

Seahawks at Browns

Baker Mayfield and the Browns were chewed up and spit out by the San Francisco 49ers, and their next game is just as difficult of a matchup, if not even more so. Russell Wilson is setting new personal bests this season, and will face a Cleveland defense that hasn't shown the ability to stop just about anyone this year. Digging an early hole against this Seahawks team is a death knell, and Baker could be in even more trouble with another loss and a 2-4 start.

Seahawks 31, Browns 20

Texans at Chiefs

In a preview of what could be the next great rivalry in the AFC, Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill will return to action, giving Patrick Mahomes his full arsenal of receivers for this date with Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans. The Chiefs defense is not a world-beater by any stretch, and Mahomes was just stymied for the first time in what seems like forever, but Romeo Crennel's defense isn't exactly the '85 Bears. Expect both a shootout and a close game as Mahomes and Watson trade touchdowns.

Chiefs 34, Texans 28

Redskins at Dolphins

Try a really quick though exercise right now: think about the fact that not only will people spend actual money to attend this game, but then consider the fact that at least one of these "teams" will not lose a football game this week! Quite frankly, this game should be on PBS or somewhere no one will ever find it.

Case Keenum is the starter for this one for Washington, which is an immediate upgrade over Colt McCoy. Josh Rosen and Miami will likely be overwhelmed by a still solid Redskins pass rush, giving Bill Callahan a win in his first game as interim head coach.

Redskins 20, Dolphins 17

Eagles at Vikings

Carson Wentz and the Eagles are back in their familiar groove after winning a stunner against the Green Bay Packers and a quick dispatching of the hapless New York Jets. The Vikings might be at home -- and Kirk Cousins has finally figured out how to complete a pass downfield -- but Wentz is starting to heat up. If he can face both Aaron Rodgers and that much-hyped Packers D in Lambeau and come out unscathed, then Cousins shouldn't be too much trouble for him and his team.

Eagles 28, Vikings 24

Saints at Jaguars

Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew showed that for as amazing as he has been to start the year, he has a ball security issue. He fumbled three times in a loss against the Panthers; still, he'll show Teddy Bridgewater and the Saints another solid performance if he can hold on to the ball. With Jalen Ramsey's availability still in question, Michael Thomas and the NoLa offense could be in for another day of scampering up and down the field as they pull out a will on the road against a tough team.

Saints 27, Jaguars 20

Bengals at Ravens

It's good that Miami, Washington, and the Jets have had such apocalyptically bad starts to the season, because Cincinnati would have the No. 1 overall pick if the season ended today, and not much is being made of Zac Taylor's brutal first five games. This week, they face a Ravens team that lost to the Browns two weeks ago and needed overtime to beat Devlin Hodges last week. Even with Lamar Jackson's struggles so far, he should bounce back against a front seven that has been pushed around by offensive lines worse than Baltimore's, which would give the Ravens a win and a 4-2 record.

Ravens 34, Bengals 16

49ers at Rams

Monday Night Football was a coming out party for Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers, as they smashed the Browns on the back of a dominant running attack led by Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman, as well as a relentless pass rush spearheaded by Nick Bosa. As impressive as they have been, this could be the time they finally pick up loss No. 1 on the year. Sean McVay, Jared Goff, and the Rams have lost two straight and are starting to get deseprate, after all.

McVay + desperation + LA's batch of star wide receivers = A big win for the Rams that helps save the season.

Rams 31, 49ers 28

Falcons at Cardinals

Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury both picked up their first wins in the NFL on a last-second field goal against the Cincinnati Bengals. They might be favored to lose on paper, as they will put their patchwork secondary up against Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, but Murray finally started to settle in as a pocket passer, and has the ability to match Ryan blow for blow given the injuries that have ravaged the Atlanta secondary. Whatever the over is in this game, bet the house on it being a shootout on Sunday in the desert.

Cardinals 38, Falcons 35

Cowboys at Jets

The Jets might be on life support, but they aren't dead just yet, as Sam Darnold has finally returned from his bout with mono and can provide more of a dynamic aerial assault than the ineffectual Luke Falk.

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and the Cowboys are coming off two straight losses, including getting manhandled by the Packers in their own building. They will show no mercy to a Jets defense that has been up and down this season, while Darnold is likely to show some signs of rust as he makes his first start in over a month.

Cowboys 28, Jets 21

Titans at Broncos

Tennessee might have lost 14-7 to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, but that defeat can be blamed on recently deposed kicker Cairo Santos, who became the first kicker in NFL history to miss four field goals in one game without making a single one. This week, they travel to Denver to play a Broncos team that won their first game in the Vic Fangio era last week. The Titans still have an elite defense, and they should make life tough for Joe Flacco and the Denver passing game. If Marcus Mariota keeps playing mistake-free football, the Titans should win and claw back into the AFC South picture.

Titans 21, Broncos 20

Steelers at Chargers

Pittsburgh will turn to a guy who started this season as the team's fourth-string quarterback in record-breaking Samford passer Devlin Hodges after Mason Rudolph's hot start was brought to a swift halt by a scary concussion suffered last week. The Chargers, who lost against the Broncos in Week 5, aren't playing their best football right now, but defensive coordinator Gus Bradley feasts against inexperienced QBs. A dominant defensive performance coupled with Philip Rivers finding the end zone and Melvin Gordon returning to form should be enough for LA to pull out a win.

Chargers 28, Steelers 10

Lions at Packers

Aaron Rodgers hasn't even been the most productive player with that particular first name this season in Green Bay. Running back Aaron Jones has found the end zone eight times this year, finally giving the Packers some balance on offense.

While the division rival Lions appear to be a tough out this year given the play of quarterback Matthew Stafford, running back Kerryon Johnson, and elite corner Darius Slay, Rodgers has had unparalleled success against Detroit in his career, and we all should be privy to more of the same this week.

Packers 23, Lions 17

Sunday can't come soon enough. Get pumped, football fans.
