The Dallas Cowboys stunned the world (in the wrong sort of way) when they decided to hand off to Ezekiel Elliott on third and fourth down in Minnesota Vikings territory late in the final quarter on Sunday Night Football. Zeke went backwards, and the Cowboys fell 28-24 at home to the Vikings.

According to Vikings DE Ifeadi Odenigbo, the team knew the Cowboys liked to run in the two-minute drill and easily sniffed out their running plays.

While the early returns on offensive coordinator Kellen Moore have been extremely impressive, especially as it pertains to Dak Prescott's improvement as a passer, he has made some odd play-calling decisions, the most noteworthy of which was his decision to run the ball despite the fact Prescott was in a groove late.

To make matters worse, members of the 2-7 New York Jets said the exact same thing after they pulled out a late win against the Cowboys.

This is a classic case of Moore and Garrett trying to outthink everyone else, throwing logic to the side for the sake of surprise and failing on both occasions. The Cowboys need to eliminate these tendencies from their repertoire if they are to be taken seriously as contenders.
