VIDEO: Ohio High School Football Player Headbutts Referee After Penalty Call

A truly shocking series of events transpired during an Ohio high school football matchup between Dayton Dunbar and Roger Bacon over the weekend. Roger Bacon was winning 23-8 with roughly seven minutes remaining in the fist half when a Dunbar player barbarically headbutted a referee upon disputing a penalty call. Flags subsequently flew in the air, as the player had to be restrained by teammates and coaches from going after another official in a truly distasteful clip.

Both squads were sent to the locker room and the contest was ultimately called after a meeting by the officials.

"The penalty that made the kid mad was their 12th penalty already," said Roger Bacon head coach Mike Blaut via Cincinnati.com. "They were marking off the ball, half the distance to the goal line, and that's when he went right after the referee and head-butted him. He hit him on the right side of his head."

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) released a statement following the disturbing incident, stating: "In the coming days, we will continue to work with Dunbar High School and Dayton Public Schools regarding this incident. This is a very serious incident and we will investigate it to the fullest extent possible. Dunbar and DPS have fully cooperated since the game ended and at this point, it appears to be an isolated incident from one student-athlete.”

Let's just hope that this player is given the appropriate punishment. Perhaps a season-long suspension will do the trick. We don't have to tell you how utterly inhuman it is to voluntarily headbutt someone, especially while sporting a freaking helmet.
