VIDEO: New Jersey Little League Pitcher Yady Mateo is an Absolute Monster

Looking for the No. 1 prospect in the 2026 MLB draft? You might have found him in Elmora, New Jersey first baseman/flamethrowing right hander Yady Mateo. Mateo has been the first breakout star of the 2019 Little League World Series, as his towering frame and 75 MPH heat (comparable to a 100 MPH fastball at the MLB level) have proven to be almost unhittable.

Mateo is 12 years old and is already throwing harder than some adults. When he reaches his full potential, he's going to be something to behold.

Mateo displayed his prowess on the mound and at the plate in Elmora's first game against East Pennsboro, a 1-0 victory in which he allowed just one hit and knocked in the game's only run with an RBI double.

In this tournament, one star can be enough to lead you on a deep run, so expect plenty more clutch performances from Mateo in the 2019 LLWS.
