VIDEO: Rangers Minor Leaguer Matt Whatley Walks Straight Into Dugout Pole While Ripping Ump
By Michael Luciano

It's hard to be a Single-A baseball player no matter what you've got going on, but it's even harder when you have to be the butt of Twitter's jokes for an entire night. Texas Rangers minor league catcher Matt Whatley, currently playing with the Class-A Hickory Crawdads, had a rough afternoon against the Greenville Drive, as when he was arguing balls and strikes with the umpire, he slammed right into a pole in the dugout.
Arguing balls and strikes when you can’t even see a pole is a bad look

You've got two eyes for a reason, Matt. Maybe you should use them.
Even the opposing team's Twitter account got in on the trolling action, sharing the video and roasting Whatley who was ejected from the game.
How could you tell if it was a ball or a strike, when you didn’t even see that pole? #SundayScaries #SCNotTop10 #EJECTED @HickoryCrawdads @MiLB @barstoolsports @Starting9 @Jared_Carrabis pic.twitter.com/XdYL9GLFFA

Whatley, a third round pick in the 2017 draft out of Oral Roberts, is hitting .231 with four home runs for the Crawdads this season. Unusually for a catcher, Whatley has stolen 26 bases on 29 attempts. That speed could be his meal ticket to the bigs.
But before Whatley can focus on cracking the Rangers roster, he needs to get that whole "don't walk face first into poles" concept down pat.
