VIDEO: Mike Francesa Claims Bill Belichick Almost Left Patriots After Spygate
By Michael Luciano

Mike Francesa is and always will be the GOAT of sports talk radio, but he's fallen into a bad habit of uncorking one or two ludicrous stories per show after he came back to the afternoon drive slot. The WFAN host's latest fantastical tale concerns New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. If you are to believe the Sports Pope, Bill Belichick was ready to abandon ship when the Pats were going to be slapped with their punishment for the infamous Spygate.
Mike Francesa reports that Bill Belichick was ready to bail on the Patriots around the time of Spygate. Mike is not at liberty to reveal the team he was headed to. pic.twitter.com/026jqBQWMR

Belichick might have quit on the Jets, but was he really going to leave Tom Brady because the team... *checks notes* lost a first-round draft pick?
Belichick was not fired or even in any remote danger of being fired, so he would have no reason to bail on his team. Sounds like another one of Francesa's aimless tall tales.
The patriots already had Mike lined up as the replacement but Mike declined, hence why BB came back.

Imagine paying for an app more expensive than Amazon Prime to hear stuff like this.
I get you got to fill some time on a four-hour show, but this ain't the way to do it. At least the legend is finally stepping away in December.
