In sum, the purple-haired USWNT hero is a legend of the game-- and she continued living up to the prestigious label at the Lyon Airport to take selfies and photos with countless fans.
It's really okay if you mistake Rapinoe for Lady Liberty. After all, her iconic celebration, particularly against host nation France, was the ultimate meme-generator on Twitter.
She might be outspoken, but she's the kind of polarizing superstar that athletes -- girls AND boys -- around the globe should look up to due to her sheer relentlessness and conviction.
