Washington Nationals fans were sent into a panic after finding out that ace pitcher Max Scherzer suffered a broken nose on Tuesday after attempting a bunt during batting practice. Being the madman that he is, Scherzer declared himself ready for his Wednesday night start against the Philadelphia Phillies while sporting a black eye. Once the broadcast cut to a close up shot of Scherzer, you can see his swollen eye jiggle on every pitch attempt. Turn away if you're squeamish.

That is... absolutely disgusting.

Even with the injury, Scherzer is showing no ill effects in his game. In fact, the swollen eye makes "Mad Max" look that much more intimidating on the mound.

Hopefully that eye doesn't swell up anymore throughout the game, as it's already quite the ugly sight.
