The 2019 Major League Baseball season reaches its conclusion on Wednesday night in a pivotal and much-desired Game 7 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals. Given how the first six games of the Fall Classic have gone, the Astros are at a disadvantage, as the road team is a perfect 6-0. However, Houston does have the prospect of Gerrit Cole making an extended relief appearance. But what else can pump up the Minute Maid Park crowd? How about Academy Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey?

Talk about an energetic "play ball" announcement.

In case you didn't know, McConaughey was a last-minute replacement. Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was originally tapped for the role, but an eye injury suffered this past Sunday against the Oakland Raiders prevented him from doing so.

Replacing a franchise quarterback with renowned actor and Texas native? Not a bad backup plan if you ask us.
