VIDEO: Matt Carpenter Walks Off Nightcap for Cardinals With Strange Looping Single
By Adam Weinrib

Matt Carpenter is just a PROFESSIONAL HITTER. In case his somewhat subpar 2019 season wasn't indicative enough of this fact for you, he made it known by wiping the Reds out in the late game on Saturday night. Blanked by Sonny Gray, the Cards then rallied against the Reds 'pen, and didn't make a single out in the ninth frame before Carpenter delivered the big blow.

The reason they were tied in the first place? Harrison Bader sprayed a liner through the hole, scoring the speedy Tommy Edman.

And boy, was it a beautiful celebration in the aftermath.

Don't let it get lost that seven strong innings from Michael Wacha set up this gem of an ending, either. Positives all around for these Cards on this evening.
