Perhaps this is the moment that Matt Carpenter finally shakes off his early season blues. The nine-year MLB veteran blasted his 10th home run of the campaign off of Miami Marlins starter Elieser Hernandez to give the St. Louis Cardinals an early 1-0 lead.

That's what happens when you leave a hanging offspeed pitch over the plate to a seasoned pro. Though he's hit a bit of a power drought in June, hitting only one bomb prior to this one, throwing a pitch like that is an invitation for damage.
Carpenter really turned the pitch around. The blast registered at 100 mph off the bat and traveled 394 feet.
