VIDEO: Jim McMahon Bestows His Iconic Headband Upon Mitchell Trubisky

A type of torch has been passed in the Windy City. Former Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon gave rising star Mitchell Trubisky the ultimate honor this weekend: by giving him his headband.

McMahon, "The Funky QB," was notorious for rocking his headband at all times during his 15-year NFL career, especially during his seven years with the Bears. Even after his retirement, he has rocked the headband, once wearing it while President Barack Obama honored the '85 Bears in 2011.

It was a symbol of his renegade attitude. He once even incurred a fine from commissioner Pete Rozell for wearing the headband. His response? Emblazoning Rozelle's name on it after receiving the fine.

Trubisky isn't quite as "in-your-face" as McMahon was during his playing days, but the two share a bond as Bears quarterbacks facing high expectations. Both were drafted in the top five of their respective classes, after all.

Who knows, maybe some of the magic from the 1985 team resides in the headband, just lying in wait for Trubisky to help guide the Bears back to the top of the NFL mountain? Crazier things have happened.
