VIDEO: Jason Garrett Calling Out the Cowboys Should Be a Wakeup Call for the Roster
By Jerry Trotta

Well, this news surely isn't going to reassure the fans of America's team. Jason Garrett was asked to asses the Cowboys following their annual Blue-and-White scrimmage from last weekend and it's fair to say the head coach has not been impressed with his squad so far in training camp.
This is always encouraging to hear if you're a Cowboys fan...

This is probably the last thing Dallas devotees wanted to hear given their preseason opener is in a few days' time on Saturday against the 49ers. However, Garrett did provide some context to the situation, adding that most teams are at this particular stage less than 10 practices into camp.

But later added: "I don't think it's unique only six real practices into training camp. I think that's where teams are."
Regardless, this should serve as a wakeup call for a roster that is deep and talented enough to make a run in the playoffs -- assuming Ezekiel Elliott's holdout doesn't extend into the regular season, of course. Garrett not offering up even the slightest bit of optimism indicates the players need to take matters into their own hands.
But the 53-year-old HC wasn't finished lambasting his team. He continued the castigation while watching film of the first-team offense during the press conference.

We can't rule out that Garrett is just scorning his men to get them motivated for Saturday's clash against San Fran, but he wouldn't do so with such extremity if Dallas didn't have a lot of work to do between now and Week 1 against the division-rival New York Giants.
