VIDEO: Greg McElroy Says Nick Saban Checked Him for a Concussion Because He Was Playing So Poorly

Part of what makes Nick Saban such an amazing head coach in college football is his incredible attention to detail, including the close tabs he keeps on his players. He's constantly making sure each and every one of them plays up to their potential. Sometimes, though, that can lead to some laughable stories, such as the time that former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy said Saban had him checked him for a concussion because of how poorly he was playing.

Hey, his heart was in the right place!

That must be an extreme low point , though. The fact that McElroy played so horrifically that Saban thought he was dealing with an undiagnosed head injury is definitely less than ideal in various respects.

At the end of the day, though, McElroy wasn't concussed, and he ultimately ended up getting drafted in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New York Jets before finding his way into the broadcast booth. He just had a momentary bump in the road that happened to produce an incredibly laughable story.
