VIDEO: Florida State Baseball Coach Mike Martin's 'Last Word' Speech After 40 Years is Inspiring
By Parker White

Have a tissue box nearby, folks. After 40 years in the dugout, Florida State head baseball coach Mike Martin is retiring, and in his final season he was able to reach the College World Series, only to be eliminated by Texas Tech on Wednesday night. That's a disappointing ending to an incredible career, and one last time, Martin had an incredibly inspiring speech he wanted to give his players.

It could've been easy for Martin to break down and get emotional throughout his final speech, but instead, he wanted to make sure he let these kids know how great of a season they had and how proud of them he was.
Florida State was not expected to make any sort of run, but they defeated Georgia and LSU in the Regional and Super Regional, respectively, to advance to the College World Series. They may have come up short, but what a final ride it was for Martin.
That's an incredible accomplishment, something Martin reiterated in his final speech following Wednesday's loss.
All we can say is thank you.

The Florida State Baseball program is eternally grateful.
Thank you Mike Martin. pic.twitter.com/Qe9FpORuSu
Over the course of his long career, Martin racked up 2,029 career wins, including 506 conference wins. Martin never won it all during his four decades of coaching this program, but it was a beautiful run and he'll be sorely missed down in Tallahassee.
