If the Purdue Boilermakers want to be bowl-eligible for the second consecutive year, they have to win out. Their trek towards bowl eligibility began Saturday against Nebraska, a game in which Purdue was able to pull off the upset at home, 31-27. Instead of focusing on what Nebraska didn't do, it seems as if the Boilermakers had a little extra juice coming into the game. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees gave a fiery speech to the Purdue team, his alma mater, before they took the field.

Brees was very calm, cool and collected at first, but once he started going position group by position group, he was all fired up and it made you want to run through a brick wall for him.

Brees got the point across and Purdue ended up winning the game, playing a full 60 minutes, which is all you can ask for. There's still a long way to go, but Saturday's win was important for the program.

I'd venture to guess this won't be the last time they try and get Brees to give an inspiring pregame speech, especially since it seemed to work.
