VIDEO: Cowboys Somehow Manage to Blow Coin Toss and Kick Off to Start Both Halves
By Michael Luciano

The Dallas Cowboys, more specifically head coach Jason Garrett, continue to find new ways to embarrass themselves week in and week out. Their latest comical screw-up came on the COIN TOSS, as the Cowboys will somehow end up kicking off to the Los Angeles Rams twice at the beginning of both halves.
Wow. Dak Prescott didn’t say “defer” so Rams will get ball to start game AND to start 2nd half. First time in NFL history. pic.twitter.com/R1lXB8x3MH

That's right, folks. Dak Prescott said "we'll kick" instead of "defer" and that somehow triggered a rule in which the Rams would receive the kick off in both halves.
If you defer to the second half, then the other team has to pick their choice in the first half, which is usually to receive.
Dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things: Cowboys somehow screwed up the choice to defer and will kick to start each half of this game.

Really obscure and finicky, sure, but still hilarious that Garrett had to be the one to bring this most obscure of rules into the limelight.
The Cowboys could not properly handle telling the referees they wanted to "defer" to start the game and as a result the Rams will get the ball to start the first half AND the second half.

Jason Garrett, everyone...
Is it an extremely dumb rule that gives one team a major disadvantage? Yes. Does is make it any less hilarious that Garrett had to be the unlucky coach that was embarrassed on national TV due to how this rule is applied? Not at all.
