VIDEO: Clip of Frustrated Gerrit Cole Trying to Duck Media After Game 7 is Worse Than We Thought

The Houston Astros were expected to clean house this postseason, especially with a trio of Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke, and Gerrit Cole in the starting rotation. Instead, the end result saw the Astros lose to the Washington Nationals in Game 7 of the World Series. Cole was expected to enter the game in relief, but manager AJ Hinch revealed he'd only take the mound if they had the lead in the ninth inning. The Nationals ended up taking a 6-2 lead, eliminating any chance of a Cole appearance. At the conclusion of the game, Cole appeared to be visibly frustrated, and he initially refused to speak to the media, as evidenced by the following video.

Game 7 was the last opportunity for Cole to take the mound in an Astros uniform, as he's set to become a highly sought after free agent. Just 30 minutes after the game, Cole immediately said that he's "no longer an employee of the team" but said he'd speak as "an affiliate of himself."

Oh, and he donned a Scott Boras Corp hat all the while.

Talk about stirring the pot ahead of what's anticipated to be a game-changing free agency.

With Gerrit Cole looking for an annual salary upwards of $40 million, he sure would have liked to have been a deciding factor in the winner-take-all game. That wasn't the case, and he let it be known how frustrated he truly was with Hinch's decision.
