South Carolina might have been 4-8 last season, but Will Muschamp is still capable of convincing top local talent to stay in Columbia. 5-star defensive end Jordan Burch is the latest big recruit to become a Gamecock, as he committed to South Carolina over several Top 10 programs. He is South Carolina's highest-rated recruit since Steve Spurrier convinced Jadeveon Clowney to commit in 2011.

Burch was viewed as a prime candidate to bolster Clemson's stacked recruiting class, but he opted for their most hated rival instead. LSU and Georgia were also in play for the coveted edge rusher.

Burch's standout trait is his refined pass rushing technique for his age. When paired with his special strength and speed, Burch has all the tools to become a star right away provided he gets immediate playing time.

Muschamp was hanging on by a thread in Columbia, but the addition of Burch and the continued impressive play of quarterback Ryan Hilinski should set up South Carolina for a competitive season in the SEC East.
