3 Teams That Need to Sign USF RB Jordan Cronkrite

The 2020 NFL Draft is officially in the past, and the initial wave of UDFA signings has come and gone without former USF running back Jordan Cronkrite finding his way onto an NFL roster despite a 1,000 yard season under Charlie Strong.

Cronkrite is a one-cut power runner that could add some thunder to any RB room despite his size, and these three teams should take advantage.

3. Carolina Panthers

Carolina should be stockpiling running backs, as they need to do everything in their power to avoid overusing Christian McCaffrey and running him into the ground. Jordan Scarlett, who played with Cronkrite at Florida before he transferred, is a nice start, but adding the former Bull could give Matt Rhule some peace of mind when it comes to preventing his franchise player from getting banged up.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cronkrite wouldn't even have to change locker rooms if he stayed in Tampa and signed with the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers need to get Tom Brady as manny running backs as possible, as he has shown that he performs at his best when he has a running game he can lean on and a couple backs who can catch passes out of the backfield. Cronkrite rarely caught passes in college, but he has the athleticism to assume that role in the pros.

1. Chicago Bears

David Montgomery was a bit of a disappointment as a rookie, and the reasons for that are twofold. While the offensive line was a disappointment, he lacked a legitimate backup that could spell him after a particularly tough stretch. Cronkrite's power, elusiveness in the open field, and ability to run between the tackles would make him a solid fit as a backup in a Matt Nagy offense.
