Tyreek Hill Contract Details With Chiefs Revealed

Tyreek Hill is in Kansas City to stay.

After an offseason filled with controversy, Hill has signed on to remain a Chief for the next three years with the defending NFL MVP in Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback.

Hill can hopefully overcome his legal troubles and try to make a fresh start with his Pro Bowl quarterback. Last season was the Chiefs' best since 1993, when they reached the AFC Championship Game, although their 2018 campaign ended in heartbreak.

While Hill has plenty of talent, giving the troubled wideout that much guaranteed money is a debatable risk. Hill has a history of misconduct off the field, and it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

“He understands our expectations of him as a member of this team and community,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement. “This extension is contingent upon the conditions Tyreek agreed to adhere to upon his return to the team in July. Tyreek is an elite player in this league and has played a major role in our team’s success, and we’re pleased that he’ll continue to make an impact for us.”

The deal allowed Kansas City to sign Hill long-term, while not emptying the bank in a way that puts their future in jeopardy. Hill's contract doesn't come close to Odell Beckham's record-setting five-year, $95 million deal.

Nonetheless, Hill's contract is a risky one for the Chiefs.
