A Chiefs prized offseason acquisition was forced out of the team's second preseason game against the Steelers.

Tyrann Mathieu, called upon to replace Eric Berry in the Chiefs secondary, was forced out of the game in Pittsburgh and is questionable to return, although we wouldn't put our money on it given the inarguable fact that these games don't count in the slightest.

The LSU product is a one-time Pro Bowler and made First-Team All-Pro in 2015. In a six-year career with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, Mathieu recorded 13 interceptions.

Berry, meanwhile, still has yet to sign on with a new team. While he was a beloved member of the Chiefs defense, Berry couldn't stay healthy at a reliable rate, forcing Kansas City's hand to let him walk at the end of his contract.

With the Chiefs getting quicker and younger in the secondary, Kansas City hopes they can match their high-flying offense with a steady unit on the opposite side of the ball.
